GO-GO Gent Roller Derby, Belgium’s first roller derby league

GO-GO Gent Roller Derby is Belgium’s first roller derby league. It’s founded in the Autumn of 2008, our first training took place in June 2009 and we were acknowledged as a full WFTDA member in December 2012. Respect, honesty and safety are some of the important values that we pursue.

Our league is an all skater operated and owned sports association. By the skater, for the skater. GO-GO Gent Roller Derby counts around 50 members and comprises skaters, referees and some affiliated non-skating officials (NSO’s). We have three practices a week and work hard, both on and off the track.

Our Teams

In our league we have skaters from different levels, that’s why we divided our team in an A-team and a B-team.
-The A-team is also known as ‘Travel Team’.
-The B-team is also known as ‘the Cubs’ (former known as the Cuberdonnas).
We used to have a mixed A/B team called the Mad Megs as well, back in the day.

The Cubs even have a logo of there own.

A Skate Odyssey

One of our ambitions being to actively promote and help grow roller derby in Belgium and in Europe, we have hosted our own three-day International WFTDA-recognized tournament since 2013. The next edition of A Skate Odyssey, or SKOD, will mark it’s 5 year anniversary!
