1. When and how did you get started in derby?
In 2013 a friend of mine discovered the existence of the sport, I loved it immediatelly. After that we started skating with Rec.Attack, wich I did for about a year.
We even made a few attempts at starting our own team back in the Netherlands where we lived, but didn’t quite work out. After that I gave the Fresh Meat intake a shot, and I got a part of the team in February 2014.

2. What’s been your favourite derby moment?
For now every bout and every trip has been amazing. One moment that really stands out was winning the Golden Ticket at Road to Glory 2015, after a whole day of competative skating we fought our way through and we will be playing against amazing teams at the Skates of Glory. I was so happy (and exhausted) when I heard, tears started rolling down my face.

3. Who are your derby heroes?
I’ve never really had any idols but I admire every skater I’ve met for their individual skills and determination.

4. How did you pick your derby name?
My derby name comes from a non-derby related context actually. My collegues at the restaurant I used to work, called me tsunami because they pretented to have trouble with my name. It was around the time I was searching for a derby name, and I realised tSUnami had basicly my name SOEMEH in it! And just like that I called myself Tsoemnami. The death and destroy part has yet to come though haha.

5. What’s your worst injury?
For now nothing bad luckily. The worst one was even before I started training derby, and I was skating in an underground parking lot. When I wanted to sit down in my car, I fell on my butt. My neck locked itself, and I was in a lot of pain with a lot of movements. At one moment when I was laying down on the couch, I had to pee very badly and I wasn’t able to get up! After a lot of effort I made it in time to the toilet luckily hahaha.

6. What advice would you give to someone who would like to play derby?
Train hard, watch bouts, get involved!

7. If I wasn’t playing derby, I’d be…
Bored and FAT!

8. One word to describe GO-GO Gent:
Swagilicious
