#90 Fallwafal

1. When and how did you get started in derby?
In 2011. I heard about it on the radio, but I wasn’t 21 yet. When I reached the age of 21, I found out that my neighbor was in the team and she took me to a clinic. Since then I was fallen for derby. On the day of my 21st birthday I became an official member of the Gent GO-GO Roller Girls: perfect gift!

2. What’s been your favourite derby moment?
Wow, difficult question: passing the WFTDA Minimum Skills. I worked so hard for it in order to play my first bout against Brighton.

3. Who are your derby heroes?
Again, difficult question. When I saw the London Roller Girls play for the first time live, I was impressed. I also have a lot of respect for the rookies who work so hard and push themselves. I love seeing that. Also my grannies who took my skating and gameplay to a higher level.

4. How did you pick your derby name?
Long story. It started with Black Mamba and ended with Miss Beat-Tricks, but in the team they love to call me Fallwafal. It’s my name for my derby friends.

5. What’s your worst injury?
Bruises on my ass.

6. What advice would you give to someone who would like to play derby?
Just go for it, even if you’re not the most talented skater. Motivation and will-power are the most important. That is the way I do it.

7.If I wasn’t playing derby, I’d be…
(I can only imagine dark clouds and darkness for this question)

8. One word to describe GO-GO Gent
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
