1. When and how did you get started in derby?
I first encountered GO-GO Gent in a television interview about foreigners living in Belgium (the program interviewed our very own skater Emma Dowdell who originally is from Australia). Not being able to skate yet, I tried my first pair of roller skates in March 2013 with Rec.Attack (the Ghent organization that teaches people how to skate). After a few months Rec.Attack got me ready to do an intake with GO-GO Gent and now I am here =)

2. What’s been your favourite derby moment?
I don’t know if it’s my favourite, but at the end of practice – or at the beginning of a bout – we all come together in a circle, put our hands together and (literally) scream: “WE ARE… GENT! WE ARE… GENT! GO-GO GENT!” After two years, that moment still gives me shivers.

3. Who are your derby heroes?
The GO-GO Gent skaters 😉 (Seriously, I don’t have a specific derby hero).

4. How did you pick your derby name?
I don’t have one yet, so if might have some ideas for me, feel free to let me know!

5. What’s your worst injury?
I once ripped something small in my left knee, which made me be out for a few weeks. And my new skates gave me some very big and painful blisters when I first skated with them. So nothing really seriously, actually.

6. What advice would you give to someone who would like to play derby?
Go for it.

7. If I wasn’t playing derby, I’d be…
Watching TV all day.

8. One word to describe GO-GO Gent:
Beautiful.
